Buying A House After Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Discharge

Can I Buy A House After Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?

Yes, you can!  Immediately after your bankruptcy has been discharged.
Follow these simple guidelines to get started:

  • FHA financing allows you to buy a home immediately after your Chapter 13 Bankruptcy has been discharged.
  • For traditional financing, also known as Conventional Financing, you can purchase a home after two years of your Chapter 13 being discharged.
  • For either FHA or Conventional mortgage financing after a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, you must have a clean payment history throughout your payment plan to the courts.

Buying a home after your Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is discharged is possible.  Borrowers are being rewarded for paying off their bankrupcty’s without going into default.  If you paid your Chapter 13 on-time, you should look into buying a home before you rent.

There are other factors involved with getting approved for a mortgage after Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.  Your best chance for approval is discussing your situation with one of our experienced Bankruptcy Loan Officers.
